American College of Education

Problem

I joined American College of Education (ACE) as a design intern in the summer of 2020. ACE is an online education platform focused on adults who are pursing graduate level degrees while also working. I was briefed that the website was outdated and there were no consistent UI guidelines. Due to COVID, enrollment levels were exponentially growing. ACE needed to redesign their website to be more cohesive and consistent to account for the evergrowing group of prospective students.

Solution

I assisted the marketing team by creating a new website design after researching and iteration. After creating UI guidelines, I focused on designing the most traffic heavy pages- the contact page, media relations page, and rapid application portal.

Final Mockups

After making changes based on feedback multiple times, I created the final mockups for the contact and media relations pages. I had weekly meetings with marketing managers and my developer to make sure my designs were feasible.

Reflection

I grew immensely as a designer at ACE. Working with a developer showed me the importance of designing in constraints and how my designs will actually be implemented. I also found it valuable to support the marketing team, because it exposed me to the business side of design. I was able to see how my designs impacted ACE's business goals.
